Top Gun 3 Is Still A Long Ways Off, Producer Reveals

A third installment in the Top Gun franchise is in development, but fans will have to wait some time for its release. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Deadline that while “we’ve got some interesting ideas we’ve talked to Tom Cruise about… we don’t have a script yet. It will be a while.”

Bruckheimer previously shared in May with The Hollywood Reporter that a promising story is in the works. “I think we have a terrific story,” Bruckheimer said. “It’s just [a question of] how do we get everybody together and how do we get it done. Tom’s very busy. He’s got a lot of movies lined up, and he’s a very in-demand actor. So we’ll have to get a good screenplay, and hopefully, he’ll like it as much as we will.”

In January this year, The Hollywood Reporter also indicated that Maverick director Joe Kosinski will likely return to direct Top Gun 3, with Ehren Kruger working on the screenplay. Paramount aims to bring back Cruise, Miles Teller, and Glen Powell. In 2022, Teller confirmed discussions with Cruise about Top Gun 3, but acknowledged that the decision ultimately rests with Cruise.

Kosinski had previously mentioned that Cruise was initially reluctant to make a Top Gun sequel after the death of original director Tony Scott. Top Gun: Maverick went on to become Cruise’s first film to gross $1 billion worldwide.

In addition to Top Gun, Bruckheimer also produces the Bad Boys seriesVenir de Tragamonedas Gratis Online. Following the successful release of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which opened with $105 million at the box office, discussions for a fifth film are set to begin. Bruckheimer told Deadline, “We’ve had discussions but we want to see how this one did at the box office, and I’m sure we’ll have conversations this week.”
